Analyst
Summary:
The Traders Compensation team in a Stamford Financial Firm seeks a Senior Accountant. The team consists of approximately six people within the Corporate Accounting organization. The department also works regularly with Human Resources, Legal and Senior Management to ensure front office personnel are paid in timely in compliance with their contracts. The group is responsible for all accounting aspects of Traders Compensation including development of the monthly accrual, expense and balance sheet analysis, key metrics, cash forecasting, monthly reporting and ad-hoc analyses.
Responsibilities:
Production of Trader Compensation activity statements for specific trading groups and strategies
Lead process reengineering efforts in the development of the monthly trader accrual, compensation reporting, deferred compensation and trading cost allocation procedures
Assist in the development of monthly department trading P&Ls
Develop and review monthly income statement and balance sheet analyses of trading revenue, expense and accrued bonuses
Interpret new portfolio manager contracts, assess the financial implications and prepare mock payout statements
Maintain and lead improvements to the “in house” trader compensation and reporting system (CiTRIS)
Ad-hoc compensation/financial reporting and analysis
Identify, recommend and implement process improvements to enhance quality, control, efficiency in all traders compensation procedures and systems
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated leadership capabilities, excellent accounting skills and experience, strong communication (written and verbal), analytical and spreadsheet skills
A strong work ethic, attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities combined with “big picture” problem-solving skills
A positive, team oriented attitude with flexibility to manage change and identify opportunities for improvement is essential
5-10 years prior Accounting, Compensation and/or Commissions experience is required
Exposure to Financial Services is a plus
BS or BA is required
